Indian Ocean Raid [31 March~10 April 1942] - on 9 Apr 1942, HMS Hermes & HMAS Vampire sailed for Maldives with no aircraft on board, and was attacked by 80 Aichi D3A dive bombers (Val). HMS Hermes & HMAS Vampire was quickly sunk. Most of the survivors were rescued by hospital ship Vita (307 men were lost on Hermes)
