  • PT boat (Patrol Torpedo Boat) - a motor torpedo boat used by the United States Navy in World War II
  • PT-109 - belonged to ELCO PT-103 class, length of 80 feet (24 m.) and full load displacement of 56 tons. Powered by three 12-cylinders 1,500 horsepower Packard gasoline engines, was able to reach the speed of 41 knots.
  • on 2 Aug 1943, while returning from another "Tokyo Express" night reinforcement fast transport mission to Vila, Amagiri (天霧) rammed and sank the PT-109 torpedo boat, commanded by Lieutenant (junior grade) John F. Kennedy, future 35th President of the United States
