  • Ferdinand (name after its designer Ferdinand Porsche) - based on the chassis of the unsuccessful proposal of Porsche Tiger "Tiger(P)"
  • armed with 8.8 cm Pak 43/2 L/71 (StuK 43/1)
  • destroying Soviet T-34 tanks and 76.2 mm anti-tank guns in the Battle of Kursk
  • After the Battle of Kursk, 48 Ferdinand were modified to Elefant
  1. addition of a ball-mounted MG 34 in the hull front
  2. new commander's cupola for improved vision
  3. re-designed armored engine grates for better bullet and shrapnel protection
  4. application of Zimmerit anti-magnetic mine paste (Zimmerit was applied until September 1944)
