  • Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN)
  • 3rd Agano-class of light cruisers (Total 4), named after the Yahagi River, which runs through Nagano, Gifu and Aichi prefectures, Japan.
  • Battle of the Philippine Sea (19 June 1944) - Yahagi rescued 570 crewmen from the carrier Shōkaku with Urakaze.
  • refitting at Kure Naval Arsenal (late June ~ early July 1944) - Yahagi was fitted with two additional triple-mount Type 96 25 mm AA Gun. A Type 13 air-search and a Type 22 surface-search radar.
  • Battle of Leyte Gulf (22 October 1944) - Yahagi was with Kiyoshimo, Nowaki, Urakaze, Yukikaze, Hamakaze and Isokaze, battleships Kongō and Haruna and cruisers Tone, Chikuma, Kumano and Suzuya.
  • Battle of the Sibuyan Sea (24 October 1944) - battleship Musashi was sunk and Yamato and Nagato were hit, Yahagi was unscathed.
  • Operation Ten-Go (6 April 1945) - final suicide mission against the American fleet at Okinawa. Yahagi & Yamato, with destroyers Isokaze, Hamakaze, Yukikaze, Kasumi, Hatsushimo, Asashimo, Fuyuzuki and Suzutsuki. Yahagi sank at 14:05, 7 April 1945.
